OnRamp Transportation Services

Story

OnRamp Transportation was a new company formed out of trucking and logistics giant C.R. England. OnRamp was established to consolidate all services that help independent truckers be more successful at their businesses and profession. Our challenge was to launch this $100 million company into the marketplace.

Through customer and employee interviews, we discovered the customer’s pain was that they want to be independent, yet they don’t want to go at it alone. From there we developed our purpose and message around, “Everything we do is to help you be more independent, successful and fulfilled within the trucking transportation industry.”

Action

In order to tell this great story, we utilized a variety of integrated marketing communications tactics including Creative Concepting, Print Ads, Paid Search, Public Relations and Social Media. We conducted aggressive media relations including news releases, subject matter expert interviews, a press kit and online newsroom targeted to trucking transportation and local media. We promoted the company through social media, launching and managing Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and blog properties. We provided support at several tradeshows and events including a booth re-design, in-person interviews with attending media, heavy social media promotion before, during and after each event, and secured a plethora of photo and video content.

Results

The launching of OnRamp and the merging of the Equinox services unit was incredibly successful and resulted in financial and operational expectations being exceeded. Traditional PR activity helped us achieve numerous trade articles reaching an audience of nearly 1 million in six months. In that same time period during a time of heavy trade show activity, Tell Your Story helped leverage news through social, simple video production of 19 videos and social media actions that topped 2,000 in that time period. This campaign garnered Tell Your Story four awards in 2012 in the national Business Marketing Association B2 Awards Program and the Chicago Business Marketing Association Tower Awards, including top honors in the Public Relations Campaign category.
