Wilmette Theater Partners with Tell Your Story
to Produce the Inaugural “Tell Your Story Slam”

January 13, 2023 – Wilmette, IL – The historic Wilmette Theater announced today a partnership with story marketing agency Tell Your Story to develop and launch a live storytelling show for people with powerful stories to share. The show, Tell Your Story Slam, is theme-based and consists of participants applying for and being selected to tell their story in 5-minute increments. The first theme for the inaugural show launching on Friday, March 3rd, is “MY FIRST TIME.”

“Tell Your Story Slam is for people who like telling stories, listening to stories and having fun,” said Wilmette Theater program director Amy Falkowski. “We are a community made up of people with great stories to tell, and we want to hear them.”

Longtime Wilmette resident and Tell Your Story founder, George Rafeedie, will co-host Tell Your Story Slam with Falkowski. Rafeedie is also the founder of Wilmette’s original coworking space, CoWorkers Wilmette.

“I have been helping tell great business stories my entire career,” Rafeedie said. “But what really excites me is hearing personal and powerful stories by people who make us think, laugh and maybe cry.  And hopefully inspire us a bit.”

Rafeedie founded Tell Your Story in 2009 after holding various marketing positions with corporations and agencies. Through CoWorkers and Tell Your Story, he has collaborated with Falkowski and the Wilmette Theater on several events over the years and is a big supporter of community events in Wilmette.

Interested participants in the inaugural Tell Your Story Slam should send a 250-word submission or 60 second video to Amy Falkowski, amy@wilmettetheatre.com by February 3rd. The submission is your actual story and it needs to be TRUE and follow the theme, “MY FIRT TIME.” Your story can be funny, scary, sad, or dramatic – it’s your story.

For more information regarding the show and submissions, contact Amy Falkowski at amy@wilmettetheatre.com. Tickets for the Slam are available on the Wilmette Theatre website here.
