IS YOUR MARKETING AGENCY RELYING TOO HEAVILY ON CHATGPT?
It’s no secret: the marketing world is buzzing about Generative AI tools like ChatGPT that can churn out blog posts, social captions, and even ad copy faster than you can say “algorithm.” These tools have revolutionized how agencies generate content, offering impressive speed and versatility. At Tell Your Story, we sometimes incorporate the technology into our content creation to help us outline ideas, or substantiate points of view with vetted research. But too much of anything isn’t a good thing. If you’re partnering with a marketing agency, there’s a growing concern that over-reliance on AI-generated copy might be sacrificing originality, brand voice, and ultimately, the effectiveness of your marketing campaigns. Here are 5 signs that your marketing team may be overusing AI tools.

At our most recent Tell Your Story Slam event, Lynn Hazen, marketing recruiter, tells the beautiful story about how her foreign parents and their native languages have had an impact on her life (including teaching her cat French).

WOMEN’s HISTORY MONTH
March is Women’s History Month and we want to take this moment to call out some women who have helped shape the marketing industry.
Mathilde C. Weil immigrated from Germany to America in the 1870s and opened the M.C. Weil Agency — the first advertising shop in America run by a woman and the first ad shop, period. Weil opened her doors just 20 years after the end of the Civil War and 40 years before women had the right to vote!
Helen Lansdowne Resor was the nation’s first female copywriter when she was hired at J. Walter Thompson’s advertising agency. By 1918, Resor’s department generated around half of the total revenue at J. Walter Thompson.
In 1969, Barbara Gardner Proctor, a Black copywriter, was asked to create an ad that mocked the Civil Rights Movement, parodying protests to sell hair care products. Her prompt and justified response was “absolutely not.” Gardner Proctor was fired and immediately established her own agency within the year. The agency was wildly successful.
In 2008, Jacqueline Parkes smashed the glass ceiling in the sports world becoming chief marketing officer for Major League Baseball, making her the first female CMO in professional sports.
